Tkachyk Farm

The Tkachyk Farm is run by Randy and Joyska Tkachyk with the assistance of two border collies. It is a 3rd generation farm that was established in 1907.

The grass farm consists of a cow calf operation, located south of Sundown in southeastern Manitoba. Calves are born in May and June when the rest of nature's newborns arrive.

Cattle are placed on to fresh grass approximately every 3 to 5 days (rotational grazing) during the summer months. This type of land management allows the cows to completely graze a smaller area, while another has time to rejuvenate for later season grazing.

In the winter, bale grazing allows the cattle to fertilize a patch of land and minimize tractor use. This has proven to improve the soil health and grass production for future grazing.
